October 26th - Third Annual Shove-Your-Kid-In-A-Pumpkin-Day!!

After a hearty breakfast (flanked by my pain meds...is there something you need to tell me?) we went out and got you some replacement shoes (you lost your penguins in the accident...sigh...may they rest in peace.) and then got the ingredients for a nice and hearty dinner!  Steph wanted root soup.  We also went and picked up the giant pumpkin we bought to put you in!

Kai, I am aware that this tradition borders on cruel...particularly when the fact that you cry every time is factored in.  But sweetie, when I think about figuring out ways to get you into a pumpkin when you're fifteen, and all of the hilarity and creativity that we would need to have to make future pictures happen, I just can't miss the opportunity.  Your future partner is gonna have a field day with me.

After the festivities, we came inside and read an entire library of books, did every puzzle that we have, played with every type of block that we have downstairs, colored and stayed up way too late because you got obsessed with Dinosaur Train again in the past few days and I'm a sucker for scientific curiosity in you.

Sweet dreams, Little Man...Let's friggin' feel better tomorrow, shall we?  It's enough already...

(and thank you for tolerating my pumpkin antics and, in spite of them, continuing to love me and pumpkins.)

October 25th

Staying home sick from school take two: the take in which we don't get into a car accident.

You and I picked Steph up and then essentially napped the rest of the day.  I'm achy, you're shmuggy...what a pair we are.

Papa came over and we all went to go have dinner at Gram and Gramps' house!  We played with ducks, and played with some toys and learned how to play pool!  We also looked at pictures of your whole extended family on that side, and wow!  What an attractive and giant family it is!  What a lucky boy that you have so many people connected to and/or wanting to be connected to you!

Meanwhile...my left side was kinda numb all day.  So, instead of dessert, we went to the ER!  Whoohoo!  The good times just keep on rollin' over here, Kiddo... They needlessly put me in a neck brace, then took me for a CT-scan.  You, Steph and I watched a Storage Wars marathon, and we were in bed before 1 am.  Did I mention that you have a 102.4 fever?  Truly, the good times never end.

(I have active muscle spasms and a pinched nerve and an acute case of stoicism.  Being stoic seems to have been the Dr's largest concern.  So...I'm totally fine...and stubborn ;)  )
