August 21st

Oh Kai...I need to just accept that I'm "that mom" now when I'm shopping and just get over the hope that you're going to magically know how to (and want to) act while we're out.  Today was certainly better than yesterday...and you were an angel at Yapple.  But let's not get ahead of ourselves...

We went to Bed Bath & Beyond to get the batteries I didn't get yesterday and hang out with Dolly and Rosie.  You lasted about ten minutes in the cart before "wanting to be held" (which actually meant wanting to be let down to walk in circles around aisles and pull things from the shelves.)  You were happy to be redirected to pushing the cart for a while...until we got to the more breakable sections.  I wasn't risking it.  I picked you up and you squirmed and squirmed...until I decided to just let you squirm yourself into a handstand.  From the handstand you decided you wanted to walk on your hands.  I kid you not, Sir, you might just end up a gymnast.

At Yapple I decided to try a new tactic: give you your own yogurt and spoon.  It totally worked.  You ate all of the toppings from yours by yourself and we had a largely quiet and enjoyable yogurt eating experience.  Just thinking about it is making me want more.  God that place is dangerous.

As far as I'm concerned you invented the scooter today.  Did it exist before?..sure...but you don't know that.  Brilliance I say :)  Not much of a sorter just yet...but you can walk on your hands and invent scooters.  Not too shabby.

You've also started signing "please" and "water" which is so helpful.  So many of your more difficult moments have been about you being thirsty I think.  I'm not the best at hydrating myself, I'm sorry if it's trickled its way down to you.

...but you INVENTED THE SCOOTER!...
(...now stop using it like that, you're going to get hurt.)
