January 28th - 20 months!! (ahh!!!)

Well shit, Man... Today had such amazing potential... We started off the day with you FINALLY being awake and not sick for some snow!  You were just staring off out the door at it when we let the dogs out this morning so we decided that we'd go outside straight away for you to play a bit in the snow - which was likely to disappear pretty quickly (we have such strange weather this year...).  Clearly you loved it.  I really hope that we get a chance to play for real in the snow this year.  When we came inside I thought we were going to be taking a nap right away, but you wanted to play more - you walked back to the play room...so there were went.  You talked on the phone for a while, played with a whole bunch of "new" toys...it's fun in there.  It's like the perfect thing for this weather to have a room we never go in to so you can have a whole new experience without leaving the house... Noted.

So...we took a lovely nap, came downstairs afterwards and I made myself a second cup of coffee...and about ten minutes later...you pulled on the tab that (is supposed to) locks the coffee safely inside the mug...knocked the mug over...and the coffee went all over your torso.  Oh sweet boy...I can't even tell you how much the next hour or two of our lives sucked.  You screamed and writhed for an hour...on our way to the hospital, in the hospital... Just thinking about it now makes me want to run and smoke a cigarette.  In the moment I was so calm, I'm, now that you're sleeping, getting all emotional about it like I couldn't before.  Breathe Mama...

We got you some meds and came home, had some dinner, some popsicle (which ended up a drum stick) and did a lot of cuddling.  You (reasonably) are very very clingy, and I (reasonably) am happy to be clung to.  I love you, Sweet Boy, happy 20 months...let's never ever ever get burned again, k?  But.  Since you're likely to get hurt again (damn reality), I've started a tradition.  We're going to get and date die cast cars to represent whatever happened when you get hurt, so...today we got a fire chief's car.  Burned, get it?  Sigh...
