December 1st

Still not feeling great, you...but we forged ahead...

Katie (who we might be deciding to call Kade from here on in...because this blog enjoys changing things up a bit from time to time) came over after picking up your big gift for Channukah (which is not yet, but there's no wrapping and hiding a gift of this size...) and she helped move in all of the pieces to it...then you two played ball for a while...then built.  She's a fun one that Kade...

We went upstairs to take a nap, but Grandmom stopped by to help us figure out the best placement for the copious amounts of plastic hanging out in the dining room... I think we got it!  I love it so much.  It really could only be cooler (to me) if I could fit in the booth... Grandmom left, and we finally did get (you) to nap, and I went downstairs and cleaned a bit, and then Anneliese came over!  You woke up, had another fit... (not the dancing and playing drums kind...just to be clear) and the Fervers walked in on it...Max might have figured out how to get you out of it.  I don't know that I'd be able to do it, but thank goodness he was there to!

So much fun ensued thereafter... Let the pictures and videos speak for themselves...

Oh sick.  Sick sick sick.  I mean, there was building and merriment, don't get me wrong...but you had a screaming crying writhing jag also, and were so inconsolable - which you never are - that I ended up taking you to the ER.  When we got there you were in about the highest spirits I've ever seen you in.  Stinker.  So...we waited to be seen anyway.  I was pretty sure that it was an ear infection and that the Advil I'd given you had just kicked in as we were approaching the waiting room.  After your dance we got called in to triage where we had a (moronic) nurse who kept believing that she was going to be great with you (you had fully stopped crying and whining about twenty minutes before seeing her...) but was very very wrong.  When she was talking to me you were dancing around the room and playing drums on the trashcans.  The nurse asked what brought us in and I said "he was inconsolable for about 40 minutes when I put him in the car.  Crying hysterically, having a fit he couldn't seem to get out of." The nurse said "is he having a fit right now?"  I wanted to hit her.  Instead I just looked at her and blinked really loudly...so loudly that I imagine if you're really quiet as you read this you'll still be able to hear the echoes...

So, as it turned out...you had nothing.  Grandmom's theory is gas.  I'm gonna buy her theory because if it wasn't gas, then you have something we don't know about...or that was a tantrum.  I refuse to believe that that level of hysteria was caused by anything other than distress of some kind.  In any case, you seem to feeling much better (than that anyway) and are back to just having a rotten cold.  I'll take it.

November 29th

My lord are you sick...I had to go to work for a teeny bit and brought you to G&G's where you actually had a pretty good day.  Once I got there though you seemed to give right in to being exhausted and miserable.  Sweet man, I hope this leaves you quickly :(

Of note: Sometimes when you're least expecting it, your grandparents can be particularly sweet and lovey towards one another...I imagine there's a metaphor or life lesson there...I'm a bit too tired to come up with it right now.  I blame your cold.
