May 17th

The last 28 days of waiting for Yanira to get here were significantly shorter than the 8 hour wait from waking up to her getting here.  We lived up our last few hours of living just the two of us.  Mister Man, I have absolutely loved being a single Mommy to you.  While I know that you're supposed to be the kid, and I'm supposed to be giving you all the gifts and knowledge and not leaning on you or whatever, I've gotten so much from you.  I've learned a level of patience that I didn't know I was capable of...I've learned to live every single day - no matter how much I wanted to stay in bed and ignore the world around me.  I've learned that 'not wanting to' doesn't matter nearly as much as it feels like it does...and that there's really not much I can't do alone.  Next set of lessons?  'Not wanting to' can matter - you can negotiate if there's someone around...and even though you CAN do things alone doesn't mean you shouldn't allow help.  Steep learning curve...we'll see how this works out...I'll keep you posted.

When Yanira got here it took about ten minutes for you to get right back into a groove with her.  I can't be sure what was happening for you, but it looked like you didn't trust that she wasn't going to leave again...like when you leave your pets to go on vacation and come home and they're all distant and punishing.  Again though, it didn't last very long... We went to get ice cream and then went to the dog park and you were wandering off...as you always do.  I turned around and Yanira was off hanging out with you...I smiled to admire the two of you together, and the next thing I knew you two were off.  I was sitting in the grass all relaxed even though you weren't in eye shot.  Seriously, this is a very interesting time in our lives.

Meanwhile, you and Yanira (and Aiden, who also chose Yanira over me) went for a walk in the woods.  You were so excited to be in there, you didn't want to turn around!  So you two explored, and had a little poison ivy scare, but ended up all clear.  When you got back, two horses had showed up at the park too!  We went over and said hello to them, and then went home and bathed and played a  bit in bed before falling asleep.  You just crawled into bed, covered yourself up and snuggled on up to Yanira.  Oh my melting melting heart.
