After delivery, they took us upstairs...and we found out that Paula was not going to get to stay over....so I threw a fit. I threatened to leave AMA, I tried to make a deal with my roommate to see if she would mind Paula staying because she was a girl...ultimately we got permission for her to sleep in the lounge for the three or four hours until she was allowed back in for visitation, and we were told that we'd probably be able to get a single room the next day. For the record...I would not have left Kai in the hospital alone without either of us...

Paula was super uncomfortable in the lounge, but we did ultimately get a private room...and that room is where Kai met his brother and Grandmapa for the first time. Brennan also filled out 'the day we met' in his Big Brother book. Also of note: Kai didn't cry all night, just made the most amazingly adorable monkey sounds, Lee visited and let Kai know that he was more than welcome to run away to her house when his mommies made him angry, Paula got me a balloon attached to an iced tea bottle (she's the sweetest), Katie visited, and I cried at 8:54 because Kai was more than a day old. (Typing this actually makes me tear up a week later. If I could live in those first few hours for a good long while I totally would)
