We got home from the train station at around midnight. You were so excited to see Yanira when you sleepily blinked on the transfer from the car to the house that you popped awake and played with her for over an hour!
When we woke up, we had a few things that we wanted to get done, but being together (and collectively loving lazy days) ultimately won out. We played with bubbles (well, you and Yanira did, I'm a bit frustrated with bubbles these days) and you "went for a drive," and spent the whole afternoon on the porch.
From there, a Mommy milestone happened...and a big day in your world too: I went on a date! Aunt Beth came over to babysit, and Yanira and I went out without you! You and Aunt Beth had a lovely evening watching 'Happy Feet' (your new favorite movie) and you actually spent the majority of the evening asleep on her lap. It's a very different feeling to leave you for an activity that isn't working... It started feeling strange to not have you with us almost immediately in the car. Luckily we were able to have a very good dinner and not perseverate on your absence the whole time, but it sure felt good to get back to you! A special shout out to Aunt Beth for being the kind of Aunt that you actually WANT to be spending time with...
(We had Ethiopian food. I can't wait until you can be reasonable in a restaurant so we can bring you there!)
